The Midland MA 28-L Portable Lapel Microphone is a speak-and-listen microphone for a walkie-talkie that clips onto a shirt or lapel and has a 2-pin Midland socket. Choose between the Vox or PTT settings on the controller when using the mic. VOX, also known as “voice-operated exchange,” is a switch that begins transmitting when you start talking, making it hands-free.

Unlike the PTT, the VOX microphone is ready to transmit whenever it detects noise over a certain frequency threshold and stops when you finish talking. The PTT setting means you can "Push to Talk" into the microphone. Each setting has its own benefits and depends on your intended use.
